When you are looking at your ‘To Do’ list, and a number of things are in the pipeline, you wonder what is the first task you need to do.

Everyday, as you look at the laundry list of things to do, you know that there are things you can put off for later and others you must do immediately.

From the Pomodoro Clock to the Kaizen way of executing processes there are many tools to complete a list of tasks. But which one do you need to do first?

Entrepreneurs and teachers do this well. They think about the fastest and the most efficient ways to complete their tasks to get to where they need to go.

It is everyday things like cleaning the kitchen, hunting cockroaches, cleaning cobwebs and chasing spiders as they rappel down like special forces, washing dishes or mopping the house that need your complete attention at times; you pretty much do whatever other donkey task you need to do on your list but just focus on this.

When you do the mundane in an exciting way, it doesn’t matter what tools you are using, you are simply going through a purple patch. What can be translated into a zen life.

What is the next most important task that you need to do? Have you started doing it yet? You know that it is what you must do immediately. Maybe because your boss asked you to do it.

Or, you are working on a project to make your output that much more effective. That you create direct results for your family, colleagues, and society at large. The tasks that help you move towards these values are the most valuable tasks to do.
